MIDI Controllers

If you’re new to the music industry, you may have wondered how a MIDI keyboard differs from a digital piano. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and is the technical standard that allows digital music gear to speak the same language.

A MIDI controller can consist of velocity controllable pads which are commonly used for programming drums, or a piano-like keyboard. The main difference is that most MIDI keyboards don’t have programmed sounds – they require a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) to play any sounds.

Turramurra Music stocks all the leading brands, including the AKAI MPK Mini and the AKAI range, Arturia range including minilab and keystep, the novation range and plenty more! Find the ideal MIDI controller for your set up down below!
