As part of Dreadbox’s affordable but powerful Chromatic Modules series, Antidote is a compact Karplus-Strong generator for adding plucky synthesized string sounds to your Eurorack rig. Developed by Kevin Karplus and Alex Strong, Karplus-Strong synthesis uses a short burst of noise to excite a very short delay, and, by changing the delay time, you can alter the pitch of the note. Dreadbox loaded the Antidote with a 512-stage BBD delay chip, which delivers a vibey analog tone with five-octave note tracking. Additionally, Antidote sports an external audio input, which allows you to manipulate an audio signal with resonator, flanger, and chorus effects (an external LFO is required). Antidote’s Tune, Feed, and Filter controls are CV controllable, and a "Colour" control lets you dial up a range of sounds — from dark and moody to bright and cutting.
