Introducing Sennheiser Spectera: The Future of Professional Wireless Audio

The landscape of professional wireless audio is on the brink of transformation,
and Sennheiser is at the forefront with its latest innovation: Spectera.

After over a decade of development, Sennheiser has realized a ground breaking vision for a wireless system that combines unparalleled efficiency, flexibility, and simplicity - redefining what’s possible in wireless audio technology.

Spectera
is not just another wireless system, but is a paradigm shift in wireless technology. It’s the world’s first wideband, bidirectional digital wireless ecosystem, transmitting and receiving from a single base station featuring up to 64 channels (32 in / 32 out) in just one single rack space. Spectera uses a bidirectional approach, allowing data and audio control to be managed within a single wideband RF carrier. Sennheiser’s new wireless multichannel audio system (WMAS) technology allows for up to 64 channels of audio to be accommodated within a 6-8 MHz carrier, therefore enabling an entire large scale production to fit within a narrow block of RF spectrum. This technology also significantly improves resistance to RF dropouts and fading, providing a more reliable connection than traditional narrowband systems.

The Spectera base station functions as both a wireless microphone receiver, and a wireless in ear monitor transmitter, allowing operators to use a single unit for both of these things for the first time. The Spectera base station features dual redundant power supplies, Dante I/O, optional MADI I/O, up to four DAD digital antennas and connectivity with Sennheiser’s new LinkDeck system control and monitoring user interface. Additional features will be added over time including the ability to cascade antenna ports to combines multiple base stations.

"We believe that Spectera represents a monumental leap forward in wireless audio technology, offering unmatched functionality, usability, flexibility, reliability, and simplicity."

Similarly, the revolutionary SEK bodypack transceiver functions as both a wireless transmitter and a wireless IEM / IFB receiver with both a mic/line input, and a 3.5mm headphones jack. SEK features an impedance matching high-power headphone amplifier and offers up to seven hours of operating time with rechargeable lithium-ion battery BA 70.

The Spectera range will continue to grow in time, with Sennheiser hinting at the future release of a Spectera SKM handheld transmitter and a variety of further hardware and software updates.

We believe that Spectera represents a monumental leap forward in wireless audio technology, offering unmatched functionality, usability, flexibility, reliability, and simplicity. It opens new possibilities and delivers groundbreaking benefits to operators from in a range of applications that demand high performance RF and higher channel counts including production and events, broadcasting, theatre, corporate AV, house of worship and more.
