DigiTech got their start at the beginning of the digital audio revolution in 1984 and is now a prominent American manufacturer of guitar and bass effects processors, known for pioneering digital signal processing (DSP) in the music industry.

DigiTech has gone on to pioneer many innovations in the music industry. In its first couple of years on the market, it blazed many new trails creating entirely new product categories such as the first multi-effects processors (DSP-128), looper and delay pedals (PDS-1002 and PDS-8000), and vocal harmony processors (VHM-5). In 1988 DigiTech delivered the Whammy pitch shifting pedal, the pedal that completely revolutionized pitch shifting for guitar.
