The Yamaha DM5 Compact combines powerful mixing capacity with a space-efficient control surface. Providing 48 mono input channels, 24 mix buses, 12 matrices and two stereo buses, it delivers the routing and processing required for professional live sound in an exceptionally compact format.

Built for venues, touring systems, theatres, houses of worship, corporate AV and broadcast applications, the Yamaha DM5 Compact places 13 motorised faders beneath a single large 13.3-inch multi-touch display. The screen can be set to four different angles for clear visibility when working seated, standing or in difficult lighting conditions. An additional 4.3-inch display provides six assignable glass keys whose labels change dynamically to match the selected task.

The shallow console design keeps the touchscreen and physical controls comfortably within reach while making the DM5 Compact easy to transport and install. The console can also be rack mounted using the optional Yamaha RK5 rack-mount kit.

Powerful Sound-Shaping Tools

The Yamaha DM5 Compact offers the clear, transparent sound for which Yamaha’s professional digital consoles are renowned. Comprehensive channel processing includes four selectable EQ types, real-time analyser displays and an extensive collection of dynamics options, including FET, diode-bridge, VCA-style and conventional compressors.

Processing stages can be reordered to suit the way you want to shape each source. The console also provides gating, expansion, de-essing and ducking, giving engineers the flexibility to handle everything from live bands and theatre productions to conferences with large numbers of open microphones. The onboard multi-effects processor offers 43 effect types, including excellent reverbs, multiple delays, modulation effects, saturation, amp simulation and multiband compression. Dugan Automixing is also included to assist with multi-microphone speech applications and reduce the workload involved in managing panel discussions, presentations and services.

Faster Setup with Yamaha Assist

The DM5 Compact’s Assist functions analyse incoming audio and suggest appropriate head amp gain, channel names, compressor settings and initial fader balances. These tools can accelerate line checks and initial setup while leaving the engineer free to accept, reject or fine-tune the recommendations, making the console approachable for less-experienced operators while still providing the depth and hands-on control demanded by professional engineers.

Flexible I/O and Dante Networking

The DM5 Compact includes 16 analogue inputs and 16 analogue outputs and integrated 64-in/64-out Dante networking and can connect directly with Yamaha R Series and RUio Dante I/O racks.

A PY expansion slot provides further options for tailoring the system. Available cards support additional Dante connectivity with sample-rate conversion, MADI, AES/EBU, MIDI and GPI control, Waves SoundGrid integration or expanded Premium Rack plug-in processing.

Despite its compact dimensions, the DM5 Compact retains the same 24-mix and 12-matrix bus structure as the full-sized DM5, making it capable of managing complex monitor systems, zones, recording feeds and distributed audio applications.

Yamaha DM Editor provides offline preparation and online backup from Windows or Mac. DM StageMix allows engineers to control the console remotely from an iPad, while MonitorMix enables performers to adjust their own monitor mixes from compatible mobile devices. ProVisionaire Control PLUS can also be used to create simplified custom control interfaces for venue staff and other operators.
